     Old-Country Cabbage and Meat

Ingredients
1 large head cabbage, coarsley chopped
1 medium sized red onion, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2lb lean ground beef pork sausage
1/2lb lean ground beef
2 fresh basil leaves, minced
1 sprig fresh parsley, minced
1tblsp salt
1tsp black pepper
 
1qt canned whole tomatoes
1 cup tomato puree

Instructions
Place all ingredients in a large stew pot. Simmer until meat and vegies are tender and flavors are well blended, about 45 minutes. Serve in soup bowls as a main dish.
Serving Suggestions
Serve with Old-Country Bread
