Sift flour with sugar, baking, powder and salt.
Stir in cornmeal.
Add eggs, milk and shortening and beat until smooth.
Pour into greased 9x9x2 inch pan.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes.
For Corn Sticks; spoon batter into greased corn stick pans;
2/3 full.
Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 18.
