     Brown Bag Apple Pie

Ingredients
8 tart variety apples
2 TB lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1 TB flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
dash nutmeg
Crust-
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup oil
 
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup milk
1 TB sugar
Topping-
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup white sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar

Instructions
Peel and core apples and slice very thin. Toss apples with lemon juice. Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg and toss with apples. Preheat the oven to 400°. Prepare crust by mixing all ingredients just till moist. Roll Crust and put in a deep pie pan. Place apples in uncooked crust, turning slices as necessary to make them lay flat and avoid air spaces.
Mix topping ingredients together and spread over top of pie. Place pie in a large brown paper bag. Close ends with staples. Place on cookie sheet in a preheated oven being sure the sack doesn’t touch sides or top of oven. Bake for 1 hour 10 minutes.
Remove from oven, cut paper bag and peel back. The pie pan will often be sticky so you can put it inside another pie pan to make it easier to handle. Let cool before serving.
Serving Suggestions
A scoop of vanilla ice cream is always good
