     Texas Cake (1/2 size)

1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 stick margarine
1/4 cup shortening
2 Tb. cocoa
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 egg beaten
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/8 tsp salt

Sift sugar and flour together in large bowl and set aside. Put margarine, shortening, cocoa, and water in sauce pan and bring to rapid boil. Pour over flour and sugar mixture while hot. Mix well. Add buttermilk, beaten eggs, soda, and salt. Mix. Pour into shallow pan. Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
