1) Preheat oven to 350 F. Line 22 standard (2 1/2-inch) muffin cups with paper baking cups.
2) Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Spoon evenly into prepared muffin cups.

3) Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into centers comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack; cool completely.

4) Frost cupcakes; top with decorating sugar, if desired. Cut licorice into pieces to fit across cupcakes; cut fruit roll-ups into strips. Decorate as desired to resemble ornaments.

5) Poke in top of each gumdrop with a toothpick. Cut licorice into 1 1/2-inch lengths; press into holes to form loops. Press 1 gumdrop into top edge of each cupcake to resemble ornament hanger.
