     Little Princesses

Category   Desserts - Breads
Sub Category   None
Servings   12 princesses

Ingredients
1 package (about 18 oz.) any flavor cake mix, plus ingredients to prepare mix
2 containers (16 oz. each) white frosting
Pink, green, and purple food coloring
12 mini doll picks (note below) or 4- to 5-inch dolls
Assorted jumbo nonpareils
Note- Mini doll picks can be found at craft stores with the cake decorating supplies
Tip- If using dolls rather than doll picks, remove the doll's clothing

and wrap the hair in plastic wrap to keep it clean while decorating.

Instructions
1) Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 24 standard (2 1/2-inch) muffin cups. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. 2) Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Spoon evenly into prepared muffin cups. Bake 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into centers comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove to wire rack; cool completely.
3) Cut off tops of cupcakes; discard. Place half of cupcakes upside down on prepared baking sheet. Spread thin layer of frosting on cupcakes. Top with remaining cupcakes, upside down. Insert doll pick into top of each cupcake stack. Using serrated knife, trim sides of each top cupcake, cutting at slight angle from top to bottom, working around cupcake to create shape of doll's skirt. (Top of cupcake should be as wide as base of doll torso.)
4) Gently spread thin layer of frosting evenly over cupcakes, being careful not to rip cut cupcake. (Frosting does not need to be completely smooth at this point, but should cover everything from doll's waist down to parchment paper.) Freeze 10 minutes to set.
5) Divide remaining frosting among three bowls; add food coloring, a few drops at a time, until desire shades are reached. Frost cupcakes, completely covering first layer of frosting. Using small spatula, make vertical waves through frosting, starting in back and working around cupcake. Freeze 10 minutes or until set. 6) Spoon frosting into piping bags with round tips or small food storage bags with corners cut off. Pipe shirts on dolls; smooth with spatula or finger. Pipe border around dolls' waists to cover seam between shirt and skirt. Transfer to serving plates or large tray. Pipe border around bottom of cupcakes. Pipe flowers (or desired decorations) on skirts; press 1 nonpareil into center of each flower.
