     Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
2 c. elbow macaroni
1 small yellow onion, minced
3 Tbsp margarine or butter
1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1/8 tsp ground white pepper
2 c. milk
1/2 lb shredded cheddar cheese
 
3/4 c. fresh bread crumbs

Instructions
Prepare macaroni as per package directions. Place onion and two Tbsp butter in small saucepan. Over medium heat, cook until onion is tender. Stir in flour, salt, mustard and pepper; Cook one minute.
Slowly stir in milk; cook, stirring until smooth. Add about 3/4 of the cheese and stir until cheese is melted.
When macaroni is tender, drain and place in a greased 2-qt casserole dish. Pour cheese sauce over macaroni, tossing to coat all macaroni.
Top with remainder of cheese. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1 tbsp butter; stir in bread crumbs; sprinkle over cheese. Bake uncovered in 400 degree oven for 20 minutes
