     Grandma's Bread Pudding

2 eggs
2 cups scalded milk
4 tbs butter
3/4 c sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c raisins (if desired)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 - 5 c soft breadcrumbs or cubes (about 9 slices)

In a large bowl beat eggs lightly and combine milk and butter. Add eggs along with sugar, spices, and vanilla. Add bread cubes and raisins and stir gently.
Pour into a well-greased 10x6 1/2 pan. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until a knife comes out clean.
Vanilla Sauce topping 1/3 c sugar 2 tbs cornstarch 1/4 tsp. salt 1 2/3 cup water 1/4 tsp nutmeg 3 tbs butter 2 tsp vanilla
Sauce con't Combine sugar, salt, and cornstarch in saucepan. Stir in water and cook over medium heat for 3 minutes. Remove from heat, add butter, vanilla, and nutmeg. Serve warm over pudding
