Instructions |

|
Heat oven to 400. Place the bread in a buttered ovenproof skillet, 9" square baking dish or casserole.

Scatter onion and ham over the bread. Sprinkle with pepper and Gruyere. Bake until cheese has melted, about 20 minutes.
