     My Scotch Broth

Ingredients- 2 large carrots sliced 2 marrows diced 1 large onion chopped 4 potatoes cut into chunks 1 large or 2 small turnips chopped celery sliced 2 tablespoons tomato paste 1 dessert spoon hot curry 500g lamb (sliced leg of lamb or shanks) Leg of lamb slices will cook faster than lamb shank . seasoning 1.5 ltr stock or water 1 cup barley
Method- Put the chopped veg in a large bowl and drizzle a spoon of oil over it mix well and then put in a pot and fry a bit . Add the curry and tomato paste . Then pour the stock or water season to taste and put the lamb in. Add the barley over the top of the soup but do not stir . When it starts to boil put it on low heat and let it simmer until meat is tender. Apart from the above mentioned vegetables I sometimes also add cauliflower florets and shredded cabbage.
