     JEAN’S HAMBURGER VEGETABLE SOUP

Ingredients
2 lb. hamburger
1 c. onion chopped
2 c. potatoes, diced
2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
2 c. carrots
2 tomato cans of water
2 c. cabbage, shredded
6-8 tsp. salt
2 c. celery, diced
 
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 c. rice
1/2 tsp. thyme
2 bay leaves
6 c. water

Instructions
Brown hamburger and onion until lightly browned. Drain any excess grease. Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Cover and simmer until vegetables are done, approximately 1 hour. Makes about 1 gallon. Freezes well.
