Layer slices of bananas alternately with wafers in baking dish. Prepare custard as follows- Mix all ingredients as listed. Cook on stovetop in sauce pan slowly until thickened. (Be patient because it will curdle if cooked too quickly.) Cool completely then pour over bananas and wafers. Let stand until cool then serve.
