Combine all dry ingredients. Melt butter in milk in sauce pan on top of stove to scalding. Beat eggs. Add eggs to dry ingredients, then add hot milk mixture. Add vanilla or lemon flavoring and baking powder last. Bake at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes. This cake is very flexible. Pineapple frosting or even a chocolate sauce is great on this cake.
