     Spaghetti Sauce (Elsie)

Ingredients
This is a single recipe (may need to triple or quadruple)
1 cup chopped onion (if using Cuisinart, don't let onions be too watery)
1 lb ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 - 3 (14 oz) cans chopped tomatoes (about 3 lbs total)
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 tablespoon brown sugar
 
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon msg
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano, crushed
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 bay leaf

Instructions
Combine onion, meat and garlic; cook until meat is browned and onion is tender. Skim off excess fat; add remaining ingredients, 1 cup water and 1 cup good red wine. Simmer 3 hours or until sauce is thick, stirring occasionally. Taste and add more spice if necessary.
