     Cinnamon Pudding Cake

2 cups brown sugar
1 Tablespoon butter
1 1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup milk
1 Tablespoon cinnamon

In a small saucepan, bring the brown sugar, butter, water and cinnamon to a boil and then remove from heat. Combine sugar, flour, applesauce, baking powder, milk and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Grease a 13 x 9 inch cake pan and spread butter in pan. Batter will be thick. Pat down with hands if necessary. Pour brown sugar liquid over cake batter. Bake at 350 degrees until knife inserted comes out clean. Approximately 50 minutes. Serve warm or cooled with whipped topping or ice cream.
