     Hamburger Soup

Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
2 teaspoons dried sweet basil
5 3/4 cups tomato juice
2 teaspoons dried crushed oregano
1 cup stewed tomatoes
2 Tablespoons dried onion flakes or 1 fresh large onion, finely chopped
2 cups chopped celery
1 cup sliced carrots
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
 
2 cups green beans
2 teaspoons garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
Cover crumbled ground beef with water and boil until hamburger is cooked through. Drain off all water. Add all the remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover the soup with a lid and bring to a boil. Stir thoroughly. Reduce heat and remove lid. Let simmer for 2 hours or longer on low heat. Serve with a generous supply of seasoned oyster crackers.
