     Beef Bourgignon

Ingredients
1/2 lb mushrooms
1/4 cup butter
3 pieces of bacon
2 lbs stewing beef
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp thyme
1 bay leaf
 
1 peppercorn
3/4 cup beef broth or stock
1 1/2 cup red cooking wine or grape juice
1 cup onion

Instructions
Saute mushrooms in butter. Put aside in bowl. Fry 3 pieces of bacon and set aside. Brown stewing beef in bacon drippings. Blend in flour. Add the sugar, salt, thyme, bay leaf,peppercorn, beef broth, red cooking wine then cover and let simmer for 1 hour. Add onions, mushrooms and bacon. May also add more wine.
