     Pickles, Bread and Butter Jalapeno

4 lbs jalapenos
2 lbs onions
3 cups cider vinegar
5 cups sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
2 Tablespoons mustard seed
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1-2 teaspoons turmeric (depends on your preference)

Wash and slice jalapenos. Remove some seeds from rings to reduce the heat factor, if desired. Thinly slice onions. In a large pan bring the vinegar, sugar and spices to a boil for one minute, stirring constantly. Pack peppers and onions in sterilized canning jars, Pour hot syrup over and place hot lids on jars. process in boiling water bath for 5 minutes.
