Sift flour and 7/8 c. sugar three times. Combine egg whites, cream of tartar, salt, vanilla and almond extract. Beat until foamy. Add ¾ c. sugar, 2 Tbs. at a time. Beat until mixture holds stiff peaks. Sift flour-sugar mixture into egg white mixture. Fold gently until it disappears. Pour batter into an ungreased 10-inch tube pan. Gently cut through batter with knife. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. When done invert pan until cold. Remove from pan.
