Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare cake mix as per instructions on box and beat until smooth. Mix together cream cheese, sugar, egg, vanilla and salt; beat well. Fold in chocolate chips. Fill cupcake tins lined with paper baking cups, half full of cake mixture and drop in 1 teaspoon of cheese mixture into each cupcake. Bake according to package directions.
