Fresh chicken pieces, wash, drain and place in 5 qt pot. Add a table
spoon of butter of margarine. squeeze 2-3 lemons removing pulp
and seeds. add lemon juice to pot. Cook covered for approx 40-45
minutes so chicken is almost ready to fall off bones. (Don’t over
cook chicken). when chicken is cooked to your satisfaction add corn
starch or a couple pinches of flour to thicken up gravy. cook 10
minutes more to get lumps out of gravy. Serve over grits. Add
butter to individual plates if desired.
