     Grilled Korean Short Ribs

5 pounds flaken style short ribs
1 medium ripe peeled pear (I use canned pears)
1/2 c soy sauce
6 T sugar
2 T toasted sesame oil
6 garlic cloves
4 t minced ginger
1 T rice vinegar
3 scallions, sliced thin

Put everything except ribs in a bowl and use a hand blender to mix until smooth (or put in a blender and blend until smooth). Put ribs and marinade in a zip lock bag and marinade for 4 hours up to 12 hours. Remove ribs from marinade and grill on bbq until browned on both sides.
Sometimes I add crushed red pepper flakes. Flanken style ribs are long and thin. I use canned pears--I usually don't have fresh. I usually don't make 5 pounds of ribs. If I use less ribs, I still make the same amount of marinade.
