     Poppy Seed Cake

Ingredients
1/4 - 1/2 cup poppy seed
1 cup milk
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
4 eggs whites
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla
 
Frosting- 4 egg yolks
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp corn starch
2 cups scalded milk
add pecans and coconut
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
Combine poppy seed and milk, soak in refrigerator overnight. Cream together butter and sugar and add to poppy seed and milk. Sift flour and baking powder and stir into mixture. Beat egg whites and salt until sift and fold into mixture. Add vanilla and stir. Bake in 2 layer pans at 350 until cake test done.
Frosting- Combine all ingredients and cook about 15 minutes or until thick enough to spread on cake. Add 1 tsp. vanilla and coconut and pecans
