Grease and flour 2 8 inch layer pans. Beat eggs until thick. Add sugar gradually. Beat until very thick. Stir in vanilla. Heat milk and butter to boiling point. Blend in slowly.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Blend into mixture. Pour into pans. Bake 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees.
Let cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove. When completely cool, spread jam between layers and dust top with sifted confectionary sugar.
