     JEAN'S BOSTON BROWN BREAD

Ingredients
1-1/2 cups water
1-1/2 cups raisins
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 TBS. butter
2-3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
 
1 cup chopped nuts, optional

Instructions
Bring raisins and water to a boil, then cool.
Cream together egg, sugar, butter. Set aside.
Sift together flour, salt, baking soda. Set aside.
Add raisins to cream mixture plus add vanilla and stir. Add flour mixture, mix. Add nuts and stir if using. Grease number 2 size can and fill half full. Bake 50 minutes to 1 hour at 350 degrees.
