     Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2 T rice wine vinegar
1 1/2 T brown sugar
1/4 C honey or white sugar
1 1/2 tsp minced ginger (or 3/4 ground)
1 1/2 tsp minced garlic
To thicken-
 
1/2 T cornstarch
1 T water
mixed together

Instructions
Combine ingredients in saucepan over medium heat until sugars are dissolved.
To use as marinade, let cool completely and pour over meat. For marinating times, see below-
To use as a glaze (or to make the marinade a glaze)- Heat the marinade in a sauce pan over medium heat until simmering. Whisk in cornstarch/water mixture and simmer until thickened.
Marinate for- Chicken 8 hours or overnight Steak overnight Shrimp 4 to 5 hours Pork overnight for whole chops, 4 to 8 hours for cut up Tofu 4 to 8 hours
Serving Suggestions
With Sake or Pinot Grigot
