     Ginger Creams

Ingredients
1/4 c shortening
1 egg
1/2 C sugar
1/2 C molasses
1/2 C water
2 C flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
 
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves

Instructions
Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, molasses and egg. Add water and then stir in flour and the remaining dry ingredients. Chill dough for 2 hours or overnight. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2-inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes or when touched lightly with finger almost no imprint remains. While slightly warm, frost with lemon flavored icing.
