2/3 c. sugar

1/2 c shortening

2 eggs

Orange juice and pulp from 1 orange - enough water

to make one cup

2 c flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp soda

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 c nuts

| |
1 c cut-up dates

Instructions |

Mix together the 2/3 c sugar, 1/2 c shortening and the 2 eggs. Stir in orange juice/pulp/water (should make 1 c together),
|

Sift together and add the flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
|
|
|
|
Blend in 1/2 c nuts and 1 c dates. Put in a 5 x 10 x 3 inch pan. Let stand 20 minutes before baking.
|
|
|
|
Bake for 50-55 mn at 350°.
