1-3/4 c flour
1/4 c sugar
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 c shortening
1/3 c milk
1 egg, slightly beaten

Cut until mixture crumbles the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and shortening. Add 1/3 c milk and slightly beaten egg.
Turn out on floured board. Knead gently about 20 times. Roll into 8 x 15 inch rectangle. Brush with butter.
Combine 1/2 c sugar with 1 Tbsp orange rind. Roll as for jelly roll. Cut into slices. Arrange around a 9 inch pan.
Bake at 425 for 15-18 minutes.
