Ingredients
Spinach leaves(palak) - 250 gm
Tomatoes (chopped) - 1
Onion (chopped) -1
Green Chilli - 4
Garlic pods -4
Thur dhal - 3/4 cup
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 pinch
Sugar - 2 pinch
 
Salt (as per taste)
Oil - 1tsp
asafoetida - 1 pinch
castor oil -1tsp

Instructions
Pressure cook Thur dhal with a pinch of turmeric, tomato, garlic, 1/2tsp cumin seeds,2 green chillies, salt, asafoetida and 1tsp of castor oil ,for 4-5 whistles in the cooker.Once the pressure is released, smash and keep them aside.
Chop the spinach(palak),wash and add them to the cooker and cook for 5 mins with lid closed.Adding sugar helps to retain the color of the spinach while cooking
Heat 1tsp of oil in a pan and toss cumin seeds for few seconds.Add the chopped chillies,followed by onion and cook them till they turn soft and tender. Add to cooker and cook for 2 mins.
