Mix shortening, sugars, egg yolk and vanilla. add the flour salt and stir in. Roll the dough in the balls (about tsp size) dip in egg white and then roll in nuts. put on the cookie sheet and press your thumb in the center to make a hole. bake 10-12 min at 350 degrees. Fill the center with frosting or fruit like dried cranberry
