Preheat oven to 400. Cook macaroni according to package until al
dente. Drain and return to pan, set aside.
While pasta cooks, melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add
onion, cook 2 minutes. Stir in flour, cook 2 minutes, stirring
constantly. Gradually stir in milk, cook 1 minute or until thick
enough to coat back of spoon. Remove from heat.
Add cheese, stirring until melted. Stir in nutmeg, cayenne, salt and
pepper. Stir sauce, ham and peas into pasta.
Scrape into greased 1 quart baking dish. Bake 10 minutes or until
bubbly.
