In a small bowl, combine yeast, 1 tbs of the sugar and 3/4 cup warm
water; set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, shortening, salt and
remaining sugar. Stir until cool. Add approximately 2 cups of the flour
to the milk mixture and mix until smooth.
Add the eggs and yeast.
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Brush top of dough with
melted margarine and let rise until doubled in bulk. Punch down. Let
rise 15 to 20 minutes.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out, brush with melted
margarine and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar, chopped pecans and/or
raisins. Form into a long roll, seal edges and cut into 1 1/2 inch
pieces. Place in a well-greased pan, brush with melted margarine and
let rise until doubled
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Bake rolls until brown (time not given).
Brush with melted margarine. to make the glaze, combine some
confectioners' sugar with just enough water to make it spreadable.
Doesn't take much. While still warm, glaze with sugar and water
mixture or freeze unglazed. Makes about 4 dozen rolls
