Sugar and Vanilla Extract for Whipping Cream, to taste
Instructions
Put shortening and sugar in a heat-proof mixing bowl and cover with boiling water. Set aside while
shortening melts.
Sift dry ingredients twice and add to the hot mixture.
Then, add eggs and vanilla extract.
NOTE- Batter will be very thin.
Pour into greased 9x13 pan or two greased layer cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes or
until the cake edges pull away from the sides of the pan.
Whip heavy cream, adding sugar and vanilla extract to taste. Top each huge slice of cake with an
inordinate amount of whipped cream. Serves 6, or 1 homesick family member.
