     Devil's Food Cake

1 Cup Cocoa
2 Cups Hot Water
1 Cup Crisco Shortening
2 1/2 Cups Sugar
1 Teaspoon Salt
4 Large Eggs
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
3 Cups Gold Medal Flour, sifted
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
1 Teaspooon Baking Powder

Mix cocoa and hot water and stir to a smooth paste. Set aside.
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, salt and vanilla extract until creamy smooth. Sift together the flour, baking soda and baking powder.
To the shortening mixture, alternately stir in the cocoa mixture and the flour mixture. Beat until smooth.
Pour batter into greased pans- 1 9x13 inch plus 1 9x9 inch pan, or 2 double-layer cake pans plus 1 9x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees until done.
