     Apple Slices

Ingredients
3 Cups Flour
1/2 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Cup Shortening
1 Egg, beaten
1/2 Cup Water
2 Pounds Apples, sliced, or 2 Cans Canned Apples
1 Cup Sugar
 
2 Tablespoons Tapioca
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
Powdered Sugar Icing
Nuts, chopped (optional)

Instructions
Sift together flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add egg and water and mix well. Refrigerate while preparing the filling.
Mix filling ingredients in a bowl- Apples, sugar, tapioca, and cinnamon. Roll out 2/3 of the dough to fit a 12x18 inch greased cookie sheet. Place filling over bottom crust. Roll out remaining dough and place on top of filling.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour (or 1/2 hour if canned apples are used).
Frost with powdered sugar icing while still warm. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired.
