Make as much pie pastry as needed to bake the desired quantity of dumplings. (This recipe makes 4
dumplings.)
Make pie filling by placing sliced apples in a bowl and adding the desired amount of cinnamon, nutmeg,
and white sugar.
Stir gently until slices are coated.
Holding a square of dough in your palm, spoon in enough apple mixture to fill it, leaving enough dough
to tuck the edges underneath.
Wrap and seal the dumpling by turning it over and tucking the edges together on the underside of the
dumpling.
Continue to make the remaining dumplings.
Place the wrapped dumplings close together in a 9x9 cake pan with the sealed side down.
Sprinkle dumplings with brown sugar and additional cinnamon.
Top each dumpling with a small pat of butter.
Pour boiling water over the dumplings until just barely covered.
Bake at 350 degrees until done, about 45 minutes.
Remove from oven when fork tines easily pierce apple slices.
Cool.

Drizzle dumplings with any juice remaining in baking pan and serve with ice cream. Best served warm. Still tasty cold.
