     Caramel Chews

Ingredients
1 Cup plus 2 Tablespoons Flour (set aside the 2 Tbs.)
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Quick Oats
1/2 Cup Butter
24 Kraft Light Caramels
2 Tablespoons Heavy Cream
1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips
 

Instructions
Mix 1 cup of the flour with the salt, baking soda, and oats. Cut in the butter until the mixture is fine particles. Set aside 1 cup of this mixture. Press remainder of this mixture in the bottom of a greased 8x8 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
Combine caramels and cream. Heat on low until melted. Blend in the reserved 2 tablespoons of flour. Spread carefully over the base layer.
Sprinkle with chocolate chips and the reserved crumbled mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes until light brown. NOTE- Double the recipe for a 12x14 inch pan.
