     Nick's Lasagne

1 onion diced
2 carrots, diced
5-6 cloves garlic, minced
1 T vegetable oil
2 T. basil
1 1/2 t. salt
Pepper to taste
3 15 oz cans tomato sauce
1 lb, ground beef
1 lb. ground pork sausage
1 16-oz, container sour cream
1 C. Parmesan cheese
1 lb. mozzarella cheese, sliced
1 pkg. lasagna noodles, cooked
Parmesan cheese to taste

,.Preheat oven to 350. In a large skillet, saute onion, carrots and garlic in oil till tender. Stir in basil, salt, pepper and tomato sauce. Simmer for about 10 minutes; remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. Pour into a large blender; blend for a few seconds or until the mixture becomes smooth. Return to skillet and continue to simmer on low heat. In a separate skillet, brown beef and pork. Add browned meat to sauce and continue to simmer on low heat. In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream and Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined. Spread about 1 C sauce on the bottom of a 9 x 13 glass baking dish. Layer with lasagna noodles and spread 1 C sauce on top of the noodles. Add a layer of half the sliced mozzarella cheese followed by a layer of half the sour cream/parm mixture. Then layer the following- noodles, sauce, mozzarella, remaining sour cream mixture, noodles, sauce. Top with Parmesan cheese and bake for about 30 minutes.
