     Frosty Date Cake

Ingredients
2 tablespoon shortening
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup boiling water
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1 beaten egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
 
Topping
2 tablespoon soft butter
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Instructions
Make topping to have it ready to put on batter. Mix the shortening, dates, and boiling water. Add salt, sugar and beaten egg. Then add flour/baking soda mix. Add 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Pour into greased 8 x 8 x 2 pan. Cover the batter with the topping. Bake at 350 degrees for an hour.
