     Orange Rolls

Ingredients
1 Cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup warm water
2 pkg. yeast
2 eggs slightly beaten
6 cup plain flour
 

Instructions
Boli 1 c. water, remove from heat add butter and shortening. Stir until melted. Add sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. In large bowl, put 1 cup warm water and sprinkle yeast and stir to dissolve. Add butter mixture and eggs to dissolved yeast. Add 6 cups flour gradually mixing. I mix with a spoon and it will be lumpy. Cover and refg. overnight.
FILLING 12-16 T. Softened butter 1 Cup sugar 2 1/2 tsp. grated orange rind (buy already grated in spice section of store) Mix all this filling together and set aside. I make about 1 1/2 recipes of filling because I like more than recipe calls for. Divide dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each part on a Lightly floured surface into a 12 by 8 rectangle. Spread 1/4 filling over the rect. and roll up like a jelly roll (long side first) slice into slices about 1 inch thick. Place in pans. I use a pie pan and can get about 7 slices in each pan. let rise for at least 1 1/2 hour or until you can see they have risen. Cook 375 for 15 mins. or until brown on top. GLAZE 1 box 10X sugar and 6-8 T. Orange juice. Combine and drizzle over warm rolls.
The dough when mixing in flour will not seem to mix well. it is ok. it will make a stickey dough. I like more filling id why I make more than recioe calls for.

i make to give away is why I make in small pie pans. can make on cookie sheets for a crowd
