Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9 1/5x5 1/4 inch loaf pan. In large
bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and
salt. Combine well. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse
crumbs.
In separate bowl, stir together egg, orange rind, and orange
juice. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir just until flour is
moistened. Gently fold in raisins, cranberries, and nuts. Pour
batter into prepared pan. Bake for 60 to 75 minutes or until a
pick inserted in center comes out clean. Transfer pan to wire
rack; let stand 5 minutes. Invert bread onto wire rack. Turn
right side up. Cool completely.
Note- This bread may also be baked in three 3x5 inch pans.
Reduce cooking time to 45 to 50 minutes.
