Preheat over to 400 degrees F.
First, I don't measure (nor cook with salt), but will give you an idea of portions and you can adjust as needed. For apples, I usually use what is on hand and often I use a combination.
Peel and slice the apples (I use one of those gadgets that peel and slice - great time saver). Put in large bowl and add about a handful of flour, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and nutmeg and 1 teaspoon of allspice. Mix together.
Prep pie crusts and place one crust in the bottom of a deep dish pie plate (I prefer glass).
Place apples in the crust and pie high in the middle. If you think you need/want more apples, sliced and prepare some more!
Take about 1/2 bar of butter and slice then cube into pieces. Sprinkle over the apples. Place the other crust on top - seal and then pierce the top to vent. You can even make a fancy top crust.
