     Italian Spaghetti and Meatballs

Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 cup bread crumbs
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
 
3/4 cup chopped onion
5 cloves garlic - minced
1/4 cup olive oil
2 28 oz can san martzno whole peeled tomato
2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 bay leaf
1 6 oz tomato paste
3/4 dried basil and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions
FOR THE MEATBALLS IN A LARGE BOWL, COMBINE ALL INGREDIENTS. MIX WELL. FORM INTO 12 MEATBALLS. PLACE ON A SHEET PAN PUT IN OVEN 350 FOR 15 MINUTES.
FOR THE SAUCE IN A LARGE SAUCE POT OVER MEDIUM HEAT. SAUTE ONION AND GARLIC IN OLIVE OIL TILL ONIONS ARE TRANSLUCENT. STIR IN WHOLE TOMATOES THAT HAVE BEEN HAND SQUISHED SO NO WHOLE TOMATOES ARE LEFT. COOK ABOUT 30 MINUTES. STIR IN REMAINDING INGREDIENTS. COVER AND REDUCE HEAT TO LOW AND SIMMER 30 MINUTES. ADD MEATBALLS AND COOK ANTHER HOUR. CHECK AND ADJUST SEASONING IF NECESSARY.
