7 Tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2 inch cubes
1 c buttermilk
1 Lrg egg
2/3 c add ins (cinnamon chips, choc chips, craisins, etc)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line lrg baking sheet
with parchment paper or coat bottom with cooking
spray.
Whisk together flour, wheat flour, baking powder,
sugar, and salt in large bowl. Using a pastry
blender or your finger tips, cut or rub the butter
into dry ingredients. Stir in add ins.
Whisk buttermilk and egg in medium bowl;stir into
dry ingredients until just combined. Sprinkle
work surface with a Tbsp flour, turn the dough out
and sprinkle with another Tbsp flour. Kneed three
to five times, or until dough just comes together.
Divide in half and pat each piece into a 5 inch
circle. Cut each circle into 8 wedges and
transfer to baking sheet. Bake scones 15-18
minutes, until firm to the touch.
