     Roasted Italian sausage in sauce

Ingredients
8 Italian sausage Med or mild - I cut my mild in half so we know the difference
crushed tomatoes 3 cans
1 can tomato sauce (optional)
1 large onion diced and fried in butter first
Note the number of cans fo crushed tomatoes is whatever is needed to cover the sausages
oregano 4 tbsp
chili peppers
sausage buns and/or pasta
 

Instructions
Bake the sausages in a 350-400 degree oven just until slightly cooked. Maybe 20 minutes. Turn to ensure all sides are brown In the meantime dice and fry the onions in about 1 tbsp of butter
Then- In crock pot, dutch oven, electric roaster or a roast pan for in the oven add the cooked sausages, onions and enough cans of crushed tomatoes to cover the sausages. Add one can of tomato sauce if you have it. Add the oregano and stir. Cook for 8 hours in crock pot In oven cook on 400 degrees for 1 hour, then turn down to 350 and cook for 3 hours. Serve over sausage buns. Then save the sauce for pasta the next day or if you desire serve with pasta instead of buns.
