Cream
½ c shortning
1 ½ c sugar
2 eggs
Make paste of
2 oz read cake coloring
2 heaping Tbl cocoa
Sift:
2 ¼ c cake flour
1 tsp salt
Add paste to cream mixture. Add flour alternately with 1 c buttermilk. Add vanilla. Blend in 1 tbl vinegar & 1 tsp soda. Bake 350
Icing:
3 T flour
1 c milk
cool & add
1 c sugar
1 c butter
vanilla
beat until like whipped cream
