Boil pickling spices in 1 cup water for 5 minutes. Strain and put in sauce

Brown meat and onions. Add everything to catsup. Wash beans and add to sauce, Add corn meal. Let boil and pour over meat and let stand over night if possible. If you wish it spicier add more. I have found that if you put in a small can of refried beans as part of the required beans it cuts down on the simmering time and makes it more like I remember as a child.

I remember Grandma simmering this for hours. It was torture to smell it and know it wouldn't be ready for hours. The recipe says that it is enough for 50-60 but has never been enough for that many. This recipe has to be at least 60 years old.
