     French Coffee Cake

--- Batter
1/4 lb. butter
1 C sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 C sour cream
2 C flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
--- Topping
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 to 3/4 C chopped nuts
1/4 C sugar

Preheat oven to 350
--- Batter --- Cream together the butter, sugar. Add eggs, and vanilla and mix til combined. For firm cake, cream till smooth. For fluffier cake, cream till the batter turns a paler shade. Add the sour cream, flour, baking soda, and baking powder and mix until just blended.
--- Topping --- Prepare the chopped nuts mixture. In a food processor: put the sugar, cinnamon, and nuts all in together and pulse till well mixed and coarsely chopped.
Pour the batter into a greased ring pan. Sprinkle 2/3 of the nut mixture over the batter. Add the rest of the batter evenly, and then the rest of the nuts. Pat the nuts down. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.
