     Molasses Five Spice Roasted Chicken

Ingredients
1 Whole Chicken- about 3-4 pounds
1 1/2 Teaspoons Chinese 5 Spice Powder
3 Medium Sweet Potatoes
2 Tablespoons Molasses
2 Tablespoons Ketchup
1 Tablespoon Honey
1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
 

Instructions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Clean and rinse chicken, making sure to remove giblets. Pat dry. Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon five spice powder inside cavity. Place chicken breast side up on rack in baking pan, and tuck wings.
Wash and dry potatoes and pierce with fork. Place potatoes around chicken in pan.
In small bowl combine molasses, ketchup, honey, soy sauce and salt and remaining five spice powder. Glaze chicken with half of the glaze mixture. Cover with loose tent made of foil. Roast chicken for 30 minutes.
Remove chicken from oven, remove foil. Brush with remaining glaze. Roast uncovered for an additional 30 minutes. Remove potatoes to cutting board and slice into 3/4 inch slices. Tilt chicken in pan to release any cavity juices. Let chicken stand 10 minutes befor carving.
